Livonia, Mich — John James, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate released the following statement on Election Day:

“This campaign is not about me, it never has been. It’s about the People of Michigan. Every vote must count, and elections must be fair and honest.

“Fair elections are at the foundation of representative democracy. American citizens deserve to know that the democratic process has not been circumvented by the powerful or politically connected. While not everyone wins in an election, voters must be confident that the election was fair and honest.

“Failure to do so, is the end of democracy.

“I put my life on the line in Iraq– where I flew missions to protect free and fair elections. I care all the more that free and fair elections take place in Michigan– where I was born and raised.

“While Senator Peters is currently ahead, I have deep concerns that millions of Michiganders may have been disenfranchised by a dishonest few who cheat.

“When this process is complete, I will of course accept the results and the will of the people, but at this time there is enough credible evidence to warrant an investigation to ensure that elections were conducted in a transparent, legal and fair manner.

“Those who object likely have something to hide.”

”So Joe Biden has said he believes Republicans don’t want black people to vote. Well, I’m a Republican, I want black people to vote,” James says in the spot. “In fact, I want everyone to vote who’s eligible to vote.”

“I knew it was the right thing to do,” James says

Livonia, Mich. – The John James for Senate campaign today released a new ad highlight the campaign’s work to donate over $1,000,000 to lift up Michiganders across the state of Michigan through the Nickel Promise.

“We’ve given over a million dollars to homeless shelters, victims of domestic violence, veterans groups. It’s been a blessing from God,” states James in the new ad.

James announced the Nickel Promise back in 2019, when he first announced his 2020 Senate run, as a way to make sure his campaign would be more than just talk and would start helping real people in Michigan right away.

“John was raised to use his blessings to be a blessing to others,” says campaign spokesperson Abby Walls. “Career politicians take, but we have a leader in John James who comes from the real world and who doesn’t just talk about changing the country for the better. He acts on it. This is the leadership and the mindset that Michigan needs in the US Senate.”

The Nickel Promise was founded on the idea of donating a nickel for every dollar raised throughout the campaign. A full list of the recipients of funds from the Nickel Promise are listed here.

During the height of the COVID-19 outbreak in the state of Michigan, The Nickel Promise continued to forge ahead in helping Michiganders by distributing PPE and relief funds. One such recipient was a federally qualified health center who received $200,000 to purchase critical personal protective equipment (PPE) to safeguard caregivers, medical professionals and patients.

Livonia, Mich — Leaders in the Michigan Law Enforcement community continue to unite behind John James for U.S. Senate.

Today, the campaign announced 17 Michigan Sheriffs, 42 county prosecutors and the Deputy Sheriffs Association of Michigan (DSAM) endorsed combat veteran and Detroit businessman John James for U.S. Senate. This comes in addition to the endorsement of the Police Officers’ Association of Michigan (POAM) earlier this year.

“Having been an officer as a soldier in the U.S. Army, I understand what it takes to uphold the law and the kind of resources and training necessary to make our officers and all law enforcement officials successful at ensuring public safety,” James said. “Now, more than ever, our men and women in blue need someone representing them who understands both sides of the challenges we face. I know what it means to be an officer, as well as a black man in this country. It is that kind of perspective and leadership that will help unify us as a country and work toward solutions that keep us all safer.”

“John’s leadership experience makes him critically aware of how important it is to support law enforcement officers with the right training,” said Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young. “The right oversight and the right mental, physical and emotional support so they can serve all members of the community.”

“The Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Michigan (DSAM) is thrilled to give our endorsement to Mr. John James in his bid for the US Senate in the 2020 election. His dedication and sacrifice while in the Army, and as a Ranger-qualified Apache helicopter pilot in Operation Iraqi Freedom, mirrors and exemplifies the leadership and dedication made daily not only by our members, but their families and loved ones as well,” said Joseph Bates, DSAM President. “Mr. James understands and appreciates those parallels and what it takes to serve and protect our communities. We at DSAM feel Mr. James will ensure our voices are heard loud and clear in Washington DC.”

Back in September, the Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) endorsed James over incumbent Senator Gary Peters. “John is a combat veteran who put his life on the line for others and understands dedication to service,” said Jim Tignanelli, POAM President. “That is why we extended our endorsement to John—because he understands why our members choose to serve in the line of duty and what drives them to care for their communities and keep them safe. John James has our six and we have his.”

Peters reports talking federal exchange benefits AND Michigan legislative benefits

Livonia, Mich. — For months, Sen. Gary Peters has resisted answering questions posed by the media about the nature of his personal healthcare. Just days before the election new details arose that suggest Peters enrolled in a congressional exchange plan for political purposes and used taxpayer funds to do it.

“Gaslight Gary Peters used taxpayer dollars to pay for two healthcare plans—one for a political stunt and the other for its elite perks,” said John James. “This is the ultimate in self-serving deceit: While families around the country pay as much as $30,000 out of pocket to cover their medical bills, Gary Peters left taxpayers to foot the bill for his political charade and has since refused to answer questions about why he is no longer on an exchange plan. The reason is clear. He knows there are better options than what he has voted to make available to Michigan families, but it’s not politically convenient to admit it. While he campaigns that the ACA offers Michigan families the quality care they deserve, he knows it’s not the truth. Gary Peters gaslights us, says he’s one of us, but it’s all smoke, mirrors and lies.”

According to The Detroit News, Peters’ campaign provided documentation that Peters was enrolled in an exchange plan in December 2013, but amendments to Peters’ financial disclosure filed on December 20, 2013 state that Peters has been accepting health benefits through the Michigan Legislative Retirement Health Program (MLRS) since January 2003. Subsequent disclosures state that Peters is receiving his health benefits from MLRS.

Additionally, Peters did not disclose whether he took advantage of a controversial exception that would have the taxpayer foot 72 percent of his healthcare bill.

Peters declined interviews about his health plan, leaving Michigan voters with more questions than answers about Peters’ healthcare deceit.

Livonia, Mich. — The John James for Senate campaign released a new radio ad today voiced by Kid Rock, highlighting the contrast in careers between combat veteran and Detroit businessman John James, and Democrat career-politician Senator Gary Peters.

The new one minute spot dives into John’s combat veteran real-life experience that will give him an advantage serving Michigan in the United States Senate.

“You have a chance to put a real-life American badass in the U.S. Senate instead of a career politician, and that badass is John James,” the Michigan-based musician says in the new ad.

“He wants to help others create jobs and put Michigan to work. He understands Michigan, will work to make our families stronger, get our communities more involved and help our neighbors first,” Rock continues.

“It’s the war fighter versus the gas lighter. The Combat Veteran versus the career politician. Next Tuesday remember to Vote for John James for US Senate,” the ad concluded.

John James is running against incumbent Senator Gary Peters in what has become one of the most expensive and competitive senate races in the country.

Livonia, Mich — The John James for Senate campaign released a new ad today highlighting an important fact: Washington liberals are counting on Sen. Gary Peters to help them fast-track their radical agenda.

During an interview with CNN, Representative Ocasio-Cortez explained that re-electing Senator Peters was the key to “leaps in policy” for Democrats to ensure “a memorable shift from just a flatline of this idea of bipartisanship.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a self-proclaimed socialist, founded the Green New Deal that would decimate one of Michigan largest industries, the auto industry.

In the six years Peters has been a member of the U.S. Senate he’s voted with Chuck Schumer 95% of the tome, proving he would be an equally reliable vote for liberal democrats, like Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez.

Peters’ votes with Chuck Schumer 95% of the time

Livonia, Mich. — Senator Gary Peters has vowed to keep up his track record of keeping in lock step with Chuck Schumer by voting against confirming a highly qualified woman to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Senator Peters joined his fellow Senate Democrats in yet another party-line vote against confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

Gary Peters’ opposition doesn’t start there, before Judge Barrett’s nomination was announced, Peters vowed to vote against whoever the nominee Supreme Court nominee may have been.

Senator Peters votes with Chuck Schumer 95% of the time, and is full steam ahead with continuing his partisan record by voting against Judge Barrett.

In addition to backing his party over Michiganders, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently went all in supporting Sen. Peters’ re-election so she could have an ally in the Senate to push through her radical liberal agenda.

Sen. Peters’ partisanship when it comes to judicial nominees was a deciding factor for The Detroit News’ editorial board to endorse John James over Gary Peters for U.S Senate writing, “[Peters] has backed the Democratic Senate leadership on nearly every key vote in his first term, including opposing three well-qualified Supreme Court nominees. He cannot be counted on to check his party’s worst ambitions.”

“Michigan doesn’t need more partisans dividing this country. We need leadership that will bring us together, help heal our divides and faithfully carry out the constitutionally delegated duties of a Senator,” said Abby Walls, campaign spokesperson. “John James will be that leader and that voice for Michigan in the U.S. Senate.”
